The moment I met Danni I knew I was in good hands. She came across as professional, caring and calm. She explained to me the process and what to expect during my massage. Being a pregnancy massage she ensured I was positioned in the most comfortable and safe position. Ensuring my posture was correct Danni surrounded me with pillows and blankets. I instantly felt like falling asleep I was that comfortable. The massage was both relaxing and effective to release tension and knotted muscles. She knew exactly where to work on. Once the massage was over I felt incredible, instantly wanting to book my next appointment in. I recommend Danni to all pregnant women, and anyone who wants a truly professional massage.

Meet Danni Assender

DIRECTOR & REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPIST

I’m passionate about helping others, relieving pain, improving range of movement and mental health. This includes the use of movement with the body, and how we can use this to help ourselves feel better in the comfort of our own home.

Pregnancy massage is such a rewarding experience as a therapist. Completing the Practitioner training with Pregnancy Massage Australia has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to provide high quality holistic treatment for women throughout their pregnancy and postnatal journey.

Supporting the mother through her body changes from muscular aches and pains and to alleviate pain and discomfort, whilst emphasizing a sense of relaxation. I love seeing and hearing how the specialised massage treatments have on the pregnant client both mentally and physically. The connection I get with mother and baby/ies is simply mesmerising.

I recently was involved in a study funded by the Western Sydney University (Mixed-methods single-arm repeated measures study evaluating the feasibility of massage as an adjunct approach to care for pregnant women who have experienced a stillbirth). This enabled me an immense amount of understanding of bereavement for women that have experienced a miscarriage and stillbirth.

Background in dental nursing, love working with neck and shoulder and how it connects to the jaw. Are you clenching and grinding, have pain in your neck and or shoulders? I love my job, seeking out the sore spots and relieving pain.

I love that my clients can’t wait to book another appointment because they have felt my passion and care I provide, and they feel I am a genuine service provider. I’m now expanding my work into movement with one-on-one sessions in stretching, mobility and Pilates (mat style.) I believe these programs will complement our massage treatments and awaken self-awareness to look after the body out of the clinic.

When away from the clinic, I love spending time with my family, pets and time on my own. I love being in the sun, enjoying nature with a mojito or two, surrounded with good music and dancing. I enjoy arts and crafts and gardening these days. When I need to restore my mental health and to destress, I head to the beach.

  • Diploma Remedial Massage (Evolve College)
  • Practitioner of Pregnancy Massage (Pregnancy Massage Australia)
  • Certificate of Pregnancy Massage (Pregnancy Massage Australia)

  • Chapmans Reflexes Workshop (Paula Nutting)

Meet Kylie

REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPIST

I’m passionate about massage and how it can be used to heal the body. I enjoy helping clients manage and reduce symptoms and pain to help them get through and achieve more out of their daily life. Through massage, I can help you to reduce pain, increase blood flow, increase mobility and reduce stress.

I am happy to work all areas, but thoroughly enjoy working with chronic pain, shoulder issues, upper back, migraines and headaches. I provide a medium – firm pressure with a deep tissue, trigger point style of remedial treatment.

I also provide myofascial cupping techniques, which can be a great alternative to deeper pressure as it provides a negative force to the muscles in a lifting method vs pressure applied down. I’m always happy to chat during the massage but understand that it’s your time on the table and will adjust to your preferences and needs. Each individual is unique and no two bodies are the same.

Massage should be a part of a healthy lifestyle, maintenance for our hard-working bodies. It’s important to take the time for self-care without any other distractions. I look forward to helping you with your health and wellness goals at NSR Massage Therapy.

Outside of practicing I love pottering around the house while listening to Lana Del Rey. Having a go at DIY projects, from baking and cooking, to crafting. I also love visiting the beach and finding op shop treasures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma Remedial Massage
  • Cupping Therapy
  • NAT Clinical Vacuum Cupping Course

Benefits of Massage

Improved PhysicalWell-Being

Pain relief: Massage can ease pain from various sources, including headaches, muscle tension, and chronic conditions like arthritis.

Enhanced athletic performance and recovery: Massage can help athletes prepare for activity, improve performance, and recover faster after workouts, reducing soreness and fatigue.

Boosted Mental &
Emotional Well-Being

Stress reduction and relaxation: Massage effectively relieves stress by activating the relaxation response and lowering stress hormones.

Improved mood and reduced anxiety: By triggering endorphin release, massage can lead to an improved mood and a reduction in anxiety symptoms.

Remember, these are just a few of the potential benefits. It’s always best to consult with us to determine the right massage therapy for you and discuss any specific concerns you might have.

Focusing on the Mums

Pre-Natal Massage

  • Reduced stress and anxiety Pregnancy hormones can cause mood swings and anxiety. Massage helps release endorphins and other feel-good hormones, promoting relaxation and emotional well-being.
  • Pain relief Massages target common pregnancy discomforts like backaches, leg cramps, sciatica pain, and headaches. They ease muscle tension and improve flexibility.
  • Reduced swelling Massage stimulates circulation and helps drain excess fluid from swollen joints, reducing edema (swelling) in the hands, feet, and ankles.
  • Improved sleep Massage helps address sleep problems common in pregnancy by relieving tension and promoting deep relaxation.
  • Strengthened immune system Studies suggest massage may boost the immune system, which is often taxed during pregnancy.

Post-Natal Massage

  • Faster recovery Massage boosts circulation, aiding tissue repair and helping the body heal more quickly after childbirth.
  • Reduced pain Massage can relieve post-delivery muscle soreness, stiffness, and residual back or abdominal pain.
  • Hormone regulation Massage may help balance hormones after the drastic post-birth shift, potentially easing symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety.
  • Improved breastfeeding Massage can help ease shoulder and neck tension associated with breastfeeding. It can also help stimulate oxytocin production, which promotes milk flow.
  • Emotional support The post-birth period can be emotionally overwhelming. Massage offers a moment of relaxation and self-care for the new mother.

Talk to Danni about how you are feeling and your pregnancy and/or birth journey.

New Client Information

Pre & Post Massage Care

Arrive at your session on time, no one wants to be frazzled going into a massage session. Wear comfortable clothing with underwear, have some food (not over full) and be hydrated. Massage will be voided without underwear.

Bring medication lists, notes/medical clearances, or scan results. To make sure the service provided to you is safe for you and any conditions you have. We may need you to obtain a medical clearance letter from your GP, prior to receiving a massage. Sometimes it can be good to go to a session with an intention in mind, to help with your focus or the opposite and try to clear your mind whilst receiving your massage.

Post-massage you may feel energised, clarity, and light. It can be common to feel tired and even some post-massage soreness up to two days. If you have some soreness, apply a topical pain-relieving ointment like our Myo muscle balm. Use a heat/cold pack if needed, as directed by your therapist.

Take advantage of your massage. Avoid strenuous exercise, try a light walk, gentle stretches can be beneficial to further promote blood flow and flushing out metabolic waste. Have a nice magnesium salt bath or relaxing hot shower. Allow your body to rest and recover. Massage can be beneficial with sleep by reducing mental and physical discomfort, go to bed early.

Most importantly keep hydrated! We recommend having a couple glasses of extra water on top of your daily intake. Aiming for at least 2 Litres a day.

It’s easy to get caught up in life and appointments so book your next massage before you leave.

Remember it’s gratifying to nurture, support and restore your body!

Illness and Massage

If you are feeling under the weather, it is very important that you reschedule your massage session.

During illness your body is trying to isolate and fight the infection. Massage promotes blood flow and circulation. It will further the illness and make you feel 10x worse after your massage. Your body may also feel extra sensitive to touch if you’re ill. You’re also in close proximity to your massage therapist and it’s highly likely that they could catch your illness too. Please reschedule after a week of feeling better with no symptoms.

Cancellation Policy

We value your time and ask that you respect our time and cancellation policy. Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance of cancellations. This allows sufficient time to give your time to another client who is on our waitlist.

A fee may be charged for no shows and late cancellations.

Payments/Private Health Claims

We offer a contactless payment service (Tyro Health/ Medipass) for private health claims. Please bring your mobile to appointments so we can complete the process on your device together. Unfortunately, not all private health insurers have enabled online claiming, so those who are with HCF or Defense health for example will need to collect rebate from insurance company using the app or instore.

We accept cash and card payments.

Kylie and I had the day off from massaging yesterday and spent the best part of the day at #balaklavacup races.

A first for Kylie even though she grew up in the surrounding areas but not attended a race.
Meeting Hans and having selfies and glitter stuck on us was a hoot!

We did put on a few small bets, and you will be pleased to hear we didn’t win and can’t retire early.
Thankfully we love our job!
Helping you, each and every client with their journey through massage and wellness is what we are good at.
See you in the clinic soon
